Have some down time while in DC? Check out Newseum!

Yesterday, I had some extra time when I got into town, so I met up with a few friends to check out Newseum, which is touted as Washington D.C.’s most interactive museum.  It’s a 7 level museum that’s a fantastic blend of old and new, filled with historical artifacts such as portions of the Berlin Wall, cellphones found at Ground Zero after 911, and even costumes that Tina Fey wore while portraying Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live.  Here are a few of the interesting things I saw:

The Berlin Wall

Portions of the engine from Flight 175 – the 2nd plane that hit the World Trade Center on 9/11

Artifacts from Stephen Colbert’s run for the Presidency

World Map of Freedom of the Press – green = free, yellow = partially free, red = not free

A beautiful quote from from Abraham Lincoln
