The NAR Board of Directors typically has only two regular meetings per year: at the #NARLegislative Meetings and the week of the NAR Convention. The Board consists of several hundred directors. Because the huge size of the Board limits discussion during the meetings (and there is still open discussion that occurs during each meeting), potentially confusing or controversial agenda items get presented on the eve of the Board meeting to the much smaller regional caucus meetings–the gathering of directors by geographic region. This protocol keeps the actual Board meetings moving and preemptively addresses concerns and questions. Governing a trade organization of more than 1 million members is an amazing feat to watch!
