While the National Association of REALTORS boasts extraordinary government affairs professionals, their excellent and continuous work on the members’ behalf is no substitute for getting actual REALTORS in front of our legislators. Federal Political Coordinators (FPCs) are REALTOR member volunteers who are assigned one on one to all 535 members of the United States Congress. The FPCs help lead local delegations of REALTORS on Hill visits, but their work goes way beyond the week of NAR Legislative Meetings in D.C. FPCs are charged with maintaining ongoing contact–at a minimum of once per quarter–with their assigned member of Congress.
These photos show the Illinois delegation of FPCs getting briefed on current federal legislative issues by NAR and state government affairs staffers, so they are equipped to make the greatest possible impact on all of the REALTOR members back home.
The FPCs volunteer to use the relationships that they often spend years cultivating so that the interests of REALTORS, home owners, and all with a stake in private property rights back home are constantly kept on the radar of lawmakers.
