During the recent Consumer Communications committee meeting, a representative with Havas and Arnold, NAR’s new advertising agency, displayed a dozen or so 15 and 30 second spots called Phil’s-osophies. This effort is piggybacking on the success of ABC’s hit comedy, Modern Family as well as the millennial embrace and love for the character Phil Dunphy. NAR, Havas and Arnold and many of the Consumer Communications Committee members felt this was a win-win for both consumers and members. The campaign will educating consumers about the industry in a comedic way that’s relatable and will stress the importance of working with a REALTOR® when buying or selling a home. #GetREALTOR campaign. Havas and Arnold believes the effort will disrupt, educate and modernize the industry. The agency has already created GIF’s and Phil’s-cabularies which will explain terminology in plain english not real estate jargon. I applaud the advertising agency for taking their marketing efforts beyond the residential real estate pace and not forgetting about NAR’S commercial REALTOR® members. The firm will be working with companies like Entrepreneur, Distractify, Mashable, FastCompany, Inc, Vice and YouTube to highlight unique commercial spaces and how companies across the United States have embraced these locales and adapted them into cohesive and collaborative spots to grow their businesses. Further, they will highlight businesses who have exceeded their current space and utilized a REALTOR® to move up or onto a larger space on spaces like BuzzFeed, Inc., Vice and Mashable. The same applies for partnering with USA Today, Entrepreneur, FastCompany and Inc. to educate commercial clients about the importance of choosing the right location for their business, rather than a wrong one that could create unnecessary future turbulence.
