Thursday started with the Multiple Listing Issues and Policies Committee and Forum, where we talked about MLS’s and copyrighted photos. We passed a motion on to the Board of Directors to approve on Saturday.
The other main issue that we discussed was Americans with Disabilities act and websites, this is such a huge issue.
Next we heard updates on UpstreamRE™, AMP™, RPR™, REALTOR.com® and the RESO data dictionary, the corporate ally program.
I was able to then attend the First Vice President Candidates Forum and listen to both JoAnne Poole and John Smaby. After getting to meet both of them when they visited my state convention, I have come to the conclusion that we are a lucky organization. We have two incredible people running to lead this association. Both have the passion, dedication, and vision to lead us into the future.
Friday began with an MLS forum where the current issues were brought to the attention of NAR and discussed by a group of REALTORS® and MLS folks. Then it’s Caucus Day. Up first is the Washington State Caucus and then Region 12. This is where we talk about what we learned all week and what we may have missed. The candidates for First Vice President both came in and addressed the regional caucus. The night ended with dinner with friends and another walking tour.
Saturday was the Board of Directors meeting, which started with a choir of REALTORS®. We came together to do the business of NAR and worked to further this great association. John Smaby was elected as the 2017 First Vice President – Congratulations John! I want to personally thank JoAnne Poole for running a classy campaign and for her service to the membership. There were some additional issues to vote on and some cool tech to vote with (see photo below).
All and all it was another great conference with REALTORS® from all over the country attending. Great things are accomplished when members come together to work towards a common goal and to selflessly give of their time, energy and ideas. We are the REALTOR® Party and we are mighty.
