Springtime is here

Hot Topics: Discussing Broker Profitability and the Rise of Agent Teams at Broker Idea Exchange Council

33172692513_82e7f2b5c4_m (1)Here in Grand Rapids, Michigan we’re relishing the mostly sunny skies and the emergence of riotous bursts of color in our landscapes.  The spring market is also incredibly hot! Market inventory, according to the Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS® is now under 1.5 months!

So, as we head to D.C. for NAR Legislative LIVE, I’m looking forward to learning more about the emerging regulations and business climate shaping up as a new administration takes the reigns. One thing is certain, it will not be boring!

Hot Topics on the floor for the Broker Idea Exchange Council include issues which are also on the forefront of business and regulatory agendas across the nation. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 16th at 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM for a vitally engaging event with a double pronged focus:

  1. The Pros and Cons of Agent Teams vs Traditional Brokerage Models
  2. Broker Profitability:  Focusing on Ancillary Services, Joint Ventures and the Regulatory and Legal Agenda.

As teams continue to feature prominently in the real estate marketplace as a business model, we will explore the dynamics which have combined to create opportunities and challenges for brokers and the agents they manage. We look forward to a lively debate and insights, featuring Alex Milshteyn, one of NAR’s 30 under 30 Super Stars and REMAX Broker and Franchisor, Tom Skiffington who has been commissioned by Pennsylvania REALTORS® to study regulatory issues regarding brokerage models.

You will not want to miss the panel discussion focusing on Broker Profitability! A topic that remains a nagging concern is the arena of diminishing profitability for brokers. To some extent, a lopsided picture is taking shape as agents garner a larger share of the transaction pie, brokers are bearing the costs of increasing risk and liability amidst a smaller share of the transactional profits. Yet, there are ways to thrive by exploring different service sectors and being vigilant in mitigating risks. The discussion will also feature commentary about how to initiate a legally responsible joint venture. This experienced panel of industry experts include: Robert Bailey – Bailey Properties and  NAR Liason for Large Residential Firms, Jessica Edgerton - Associate Council of the National Association of REALTORS®, Carol Bulman – CEO and President of Jack Conway REALTORS®, and Alan Miller – New Penn Financial/Shelter Mortgage.

The pace of change is rapidly accelerating the dynamics at play in the real estate industry. Being proactive is key to survival and profitability. We hope to welcome you on Tuesday, May 16th, 2017 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel – Virginia Suite to the Broker Idea Exchange Council’s premier meeting of 2017 where you will have the opportunity to meet and network with your peers and participate in targeted discussions led by council members from across the nation.
