This Pin Right Here

rpac pin 1

As I get ready for my 5th Midyear Legislative Meetings, I’m looking through all of the pins and swag I’ve collected. I’m trying to decide which ones to put in my suitcase for next week, and which ones I’ll actually remember to wear! There are two that jump out at me: my Military Relocation Professional pin and the one right up there.. my RPAC Sterling R pin for 2017.  I’m in a dual RPAC family – my husband is a Golden R this year. We both invest because we both know just how important RPAC, and our state’s RAPAC is to us, our clients, our family, our friends.

So just what is RPAC? From NAR’s website: “Since 1969, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. The purpose of RPAC is clear: REALTORS® raise and spend money to elect candidates who understand and support their interests. The money to accomplish this comes from voluntary contributions made by REALTORS®. These are not members’ dues; this is money given freely by REALTORS® in recognition of how important campaign fundraising is to the political process. RPAC doesn’t buy votes. RPAC enables REALTORS® to support candidates that support the issues that are important to their profession and livelihood”.

If you are heading to DC, I urge you to take a look at the Government Affairs Materials on NAR’s website. There, you’ll find the talking points for your hill visits, committee agents, the link to the Town Hall that occurred on 5/10/17 and much more.

If you are interested in learning more about RPAC, I urge you to visit the NAR Booth during the Expo as there will be folks on hand to answer all of your questions!

I’ll be looking for those RPAC pins so don’t be surprised if some stranger from Arizona comes up and tells you “Thank you for investing in our industry.”
