FPCs, NAR’s army of Federal Political Coordinators, are a unique group of REALTOR® volunteers who are assigned to maintain relationships with specific members of Congress to keep them up to date on REALTOR® issues. In addition to leading Capitol Hill visits with legislators, FPCs are required to stay in touch throughout the year in the legislators’ home districts.  FPCs are chosen on the basis–where possible–of preexisting relationships with the legislators.

I hail from Illinois, the 6th most populous state in the country with nearly 13 million residents. The state is politically deep blue as a whole, but it is home to a congressional delegation as diverse as the state’s residents and representing districts ranging from one of the country’s largest cities to sparsely populated rural communities and small cities. Our state’s delegation includes legislators who are Latino, African-American, Indian born, Asian-American, and numerous women. Politically, they cover the entire spectrum from far left to far right and all points in between. And we have a REALTOR® FPC matched to each and every one of them!

I tagged along with my camera for five House visits and one Senate visit. In meeting after meeting, I got to watch my REALTOR® peers shine in their FPC roles, deftly combining their personal relationships with their working knowledge of key REALTOR® policy issues to  create a truly compelling case for the REALTOR® Party. They make me proud, and as you can see in my photos, they connect in a meaningful  way to ensure the continued protection and promotion of private property rights and home ownership.

FPCs, you have my heartfelt gratitude for a job amazingly well done!
