2018 is the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act (you might have heard a little something about that recently?), and we want you to add your name to this pledge!
During #NARLegislative this week, you can join your fellow REALTORS® in our collective commitment to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, Article 10, by signing the reaffirmation display in the Marriott Wardman Park. Upon your arrival in Washington, DC, or sometime during the week, please head over to the Marriott lobby, veer just right of the registration desk toward the RPAC area, where you will find the display above, in the hallway between hotel registration and the Marriott ballroom.
Article 10 of the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics provides that, “REALTORS® shall not deny equal professional services to any person for reasons of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity. REALTORS® shall not be parties to any plan or agreement to discriminate against a person or persons on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity. REALTORS®, in their real estate employment practices, shall not discriminate against any person or persons on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity.”
It’s worth noting (and you may know) that Article 10 takes into account the protected classes of the Fair Housing Act and has two additional protected classes that REALTORS® must recognize: sexual orientation (added in 2011) and gender identity (added in 2013).
Will you join me and sign your name to continue to uphold Article 10 and the Fair Housing Act?
