The 2018 NAR Land Use, Property Rights, and Environmental Committee met in Washington, D.C. to further discussion and policy within their purview.
The committee heard updates from Smart Growth Advisory Board Vice-Chair Kathleen McQuilkin, Land Use Initiatives State & Local Representative Adriann Murkawski, Sustainability Program Director Amanda Stinton, and NAR Political Lobbyist Ken Wingerd on issues and initiatives in their respective areas.
Staff executive Russell Riggs gave a fair amount of input on various policy-making challenges with governmental agencies, such as the EPA. As members, we are very fortunate to the amazing staff, including Russell, many others on staff, as well as an incredible group of volunteers to help shape our organization and governmental entities across the country.
We also had some expert guest speakers. Hannah Sholder spoke about infrastructure and international property rights, and Emily Feenstra gave an infrastructure report based on civil engineering industry studies.
These topics and initiatives remain important for this committee and NAR, and rightfully so.
It’s important to stay up to date across all subjects, even those that tend to be a little less sexy than many of those things we often speak about with our legislators while we are all in our capital city.
Always wonderful to see many of my fellow NAR Green REsource Council Advisory Board members, as well as members of the newly formed NAR Sustainability Advisory Board in the room to listen and stay in tune with the broad spectrum of the relevant topics.
See you all from the NAR 360 next!
As always… Kind “REALTOR® Party” Regards,
