I know, you read the subject line and wondered who RRC is. We are like the Prince of real estate, Residential Real Estate Council is the Council formerly known as CRS. 🙂
It has been asked, “Why serve? Why volunteer and go into leadership, when it is unpaid and costs buckets of hours?” Now that I am the immediate past president of RRC/CRS, I can tell you better than I could have before I got here.
Look at these photos. Three rooms packed with volunteers doing the current and future work of premium real estate education and networking. Volunteers who came to DC on their own dime, taking time away from their businesses and personal lives, to figure out how to crack the nut of “raising that dadgum bar in real estate.”
They built new classes. Evidenced by 10 new CRS classes already released for 2018 and 11 more on the way before year-end.
Here’s the thing. It is sometimes hard in volunteer life to know whether or not you are making a difference or if it is actually moving that needle at all. I wondered, too. Then I walked into the room and saw new faces, members who had not been in there before. Got hugs from people who said they had met me and felt encouraged to show up.
Now, THEY become the voices we hear, and I can step back. I can go back to learning from them and improving my own business because each person in these rooms is a leader in their own right.
When you see them, thank them. Then, ask your brokerage or association to go to CRS.com and book something new so that your colleagues can be improved. None of us is an island.
